Help a noobie if u can.

Hi all.

I have a DVD that i want to back up. I tryed DVDXCopy it sead that it needed to use 2 DVD's for the film. As i only want to used one disk i want to ask is there a way i could make the film a bit smoller so its not as big. As far as i can see the film is over 5 gigs and there are same addons 2. So if there is a good way of doing this can u plz let me know.

And if any one know where i can get good DVD-R's for not a lot plz let me know. The ones i get now are from PC World and they cost me 5 for £20 (This is in UK).

Check out the Backup Guides over at Doom9. As you are new to the DVD Backup thing just go with one of the 'One Click Options' (DVD2One or DVD Shrink).

Except for very short movies DVDXCopy requires 2 blank dvd discs, but the later release which is called "DVDXCopy Xpress" compresses to one disc and does a good job.

When first released DVDXCopy Xpress was a free download to REGISTERED users of DVDXCopy, but I don't know if it is still available this way.

Good luck.

Yes, xpress is still free if you purchased dvd x copy before April 29. Xpress only keeps the main movie. I believe dvd2one and dvd shrink let you keep the whole movie, extras, and the menu.

Me again, I tryed useing DVD shrink and Nero to make get it onto 1 DVD and its not playing in my DVD player. I dont know why but i think the nero i got is not setup as it should.

I do have DVD X Copy and that so how and where can i get DVDXCopy Xpress as i tryed looking on the page they gave me to dowload the DVD X Copy and its not there. So if u can let me know it would be nice, as i never do look at the extras on a DVD i dont need it, so all i realy want is the film.

Any ways TY for u help and if u can help out more plz do.

You can get xpress here. Your nero burn probably didn't work because your version of Nero is outdated. Have a look and some conversion guides here

@just-unduit
There are many ways to backup a DVD movie now, and a simple Google search will come up with results on where to purchase "Magic DVD Ripper", so no secret there!!
But the thing that makes me laugh the most is the fact you have just replied in a thread which is well over 3 years old!!!
