Question Backups by CloneCD not working correctly

recently i made backups of a few of my games:

1) dead or alive 2
2) sega tennis 2k2
3) star wars episode i racer
4) f1 racing championship

all these backups were made using clonecd 4. i was unable to get discjuggler working on my system (it crashed everytime). here are my experiences:

1) dead or alive 2

game works fine, but loading times are very very very high. i can hear the cd spin spin spin screech squel inside the dreamcast, and eventually the game loads, but its very slow. on a few occasions, the screen has gone completely blank - requiring a reboot. also, the music doesnt always play during the intro. skips a few times (at fixed points) and after kasumi and lei-fang's fight, there's no music till the next loop.

2) sega tennis 2k2

game works fine, loading times are acceptable. quite a few reboots though, mainly during the loading of a match. audio skips at fixed points.

3) star wars episode i racer

game works, loading times are ok. quite a few reboots. there is a black band about an inch high that seems overlaid at the bottom of the screen. kinda like the widescreen movies black bands, but this one's at the bottom, and its over the movie, so you can't anything at the bottom of the screen.

4) f1 racing championship

unplayable. main menu audio plays for 1 second and then stops. can proceed to the start of the race, but before the first turning, reboot.

i may have identified the problem with f1 racing championship.

the backup, when tried on a pc, shows 8 audio tracks (track 9 is the game data). all the tracks are empty, but have length - 2m, 1m58s, 1m50s etc. in other words, the tracks are silence, except for the first track, which has about one second of music - this is the exact same track that plays for 1 sec during the main menu. so during the main menu, the track plays, but its silence after the 1st second so we hear just that.

i tried to extract all the audio tracks as wav files using windows media player. i could copy all audio tracks except #2. windows media player doesnt respond and eventually has to be shut down. i believe the game tries to play track2, and it can't, so it crashes and reboots the console. i *think*.

now I seem to have misplaced my original copy of f1 racing championship, so i can't try out discjuggler. is there any way i can fix this 2nd audio track? all i have is a cd-r backup of the game.

i used blindread to make a cue/bin of the backup. then, i edited the cue file and removed the track 2 markers so that track 2 would now start from where track 3 used to, track 3 would start from where track 4 used to, and so on till the original track 8, which was split into two tracks - 7 and 8 - to maintain consistency (8 audio tracks + 1 data track). i burnt this, but it didn't work.

what do i do? help.

thanks.

Try burning with Nero

I don't use clone cd when backing up coz of somewhat similar experiences. It takes 10-15 seconds just to get past the Sega licence screen. During that time my dc makes those screeching dying noises. Errr my point is, try Nero.
