People say that metal gear can`t be copied because the game is to big. How does the contents of the disc look like. Is the hole disc just 1 file or are the directories with files in it?

off the top of my mind is it just wads...like disc1.wad1 etc

theres about 8 of those then one called disc 2 so i dont think its a case of simply downsizing the game

like quall said there was a hacked version on the net which only has the sol game on it but playing it off the hd shouldnt be too hard...if only i could get 4 games too....

The game is 6.42Gigs

and 6 files something like

disc1
disc2
disc3
..
..
..

It can be copied to an upgraded HD but that's about it.

hi guys.
first of all i have the original of this game and could not down size it my self. i have however obtained a full version which has been successfully burned on to a 4.7 dvd-r disc and no i did not download it i got this from a friend when i bought his system for spares, how it was done i don't know but heres the layout

to be honnest i've only had it 8 days and played 5 miniutes of it because i'm realy busy at work at the moment.
when i'm not so busy at work i'll check it through better and post the results. game play looks fine and the sound quality is ok too so i'm not sure what was done to it to downsize it.

i got a feeling the version dude may have is the one i was on about....the one with just sol in it...but lets wait till we get a reply off him

So if the disc contains about 6 files of each 1 gb. Than there must be a prog to open the files. The data is sort of packed like an archive. If there`s a way to open the files than you should see the contents like movie files and demo`s. Than ther`s no problem to downize the game. Any sugestions about a prog? I don`t think winrar will do

i imagine there would be a way to open the files...after all how would something like dudes copy of mgs2 work....then again im not sure you would be able to downsize much really, the movies i think run off the games engine...not fmv...but i may be mistaken

What do you mean with just sol in it? You main only the game? Are there extra`s on the disc?

from what i hear...(remember i dont have this rip, i have the whole game on my hd) it should just have the main game, the tanker and the plant episodes...as for snake tales, vr missions..they will be gone...if you want a full proper back up of this game on dvd-r the best place to go would be hong kong and buy a dvd silver of it...costs about 3gbp....got a dvd-9 silver of mgs2:sol for the ps2 just for the skating mode
