Which PS2 backups won't work ... CD, DVD, or both ?

In my installing experience, the problems almost always have to do with the BIOS. I take a razor and lightly scrape between the BIOS legs and between all the soldered pads when I'm done. Solder bridges are easy to miss with the naked eye.

Did your magic have that nasty clip that goes over the bios? If so that was probably the source of the problem. When the clip was pushed on it probably created a little splinter of solder that got back behind the bios legs. Use some desoldering braid and clean up as much solder as humanly possible off the bios, then resolder your wires.

So you can boot PS2 backups with Gameshark 2 ?

If so, then wires A-I are OK, and the BIOS is the problem (according to the Messiah 2 install guide).
