Old PS2, which mod chip should i get?

I have a PS2, V4, SCPH-30001 with a Neo 2.2 mod chip. Now that i hear DVD-R's will hurt my laser i need to upgrade my mod chip. But which mod chips out there still support V4 PS2s? and what kinda do people suggest?

Smile heres my idea

if ur going to stick with ur v4 i would buy a v4 no solder and do the swap method for now v4 not to good at reading dvd-r's and i would not spend alot of cash getting a messiah 2 installed on that system if u want to get a no swap chip best bet is get u a newer ps2 then put a no swap chip inside i seen v7 ps2 go for 150$ new on ebay thats not a bad price and if u want a no swap chip the best r messiah 2 and apple. Apples r just bout as good as messiah 2 but like 3 times less on cash i seen them for 21.96$ and messiah 2 54$ the cheapest i seen
