Still unable to burn anything with DRU-500ax

I just want to know if ANYONE out there has the Sony DRU-500ax and HAS made successful backups with Nero or RecordNow?

I know one time, when I first got this DVD writer, I made a backup of Madden 2003, but since then I have been unable to get it to work. It's brand new, so there is no way the laser is bad (in fact I took one back, just in case).

I'm just wondering if maybe for some reason my motherboard is giving me a problem. I have an Epox 8k3a+ and it doesn't seem to allow me to change the DMA setting. I'm guessing that it is set to off, but not positive. Visits to their website doesn't help.

instead of using nero and recordnow, try using recordnow max and use the update then use the tutorial in the sticky's on top of this forum for recordnow max , see if that works

Actually I'm using the RecordNow Max demo that was on that sticky thread. I did use the RecordNow that came with the DVD Burner before, but wanted to do EVERYTHING exactly like I was told.

I am ready to just take this piece of crap back. Not only did I spend over $350.00 on this burner, but have already made 5 coasters.... might as well go buy myself a backup of these games.

I'm searching all over the internet and still have yet to find anyone that comes out and just plain says they use this burner with success on PS2 games. Once that happens, I will feel better knowing it's my problem and not the burners.

yes i have this burner and yes it works with nero and recordnow max. You should just really try updating all your software and make sure u installed everything correctly. Other then that nothing much i can say just wish u luck in your future. If u need to return the burner do it. But IMO i think this is the best burner ive EVER had.

Well last night I finally was able to get 2 good backups completed. Madden 2003 and Tiger Woods 2003. Was pretty darn excited, that's for sure.

I didn't really do anything different however, other than removing the demo copy of RecordNow and putting the original RecordNow that came with the burner back on.

I had tried it with that version before, with no success, but maybe it didn't install right the first time? Who knows....

Thanks for all your help, though!
