want to make my game work!!!

Hi! I have bought an american wipeout3 (fantastic game btw!!!!!) game, and I tried to play it in my french psx with a modchip, and evrytime i start a race, the game freezes!! starnge, cause my french psx has been able to play any import game until this one....
so I try to backup it and apply a patch to it.... (i used cdrwin 3.9c)
the game boots (i can see the patch worked cause there is a special intro, but now it freezes every time i load a race!!!!!!
What's wrong?!!!! How can i make it work???...Plz help me....
(btw, my psx is SCPH-5502)
