PS2 disassembly problems
Model SCPH 30001
Trying to install a Messiah2 Pro chip. Now it appears there are a few soder points at the bottom of the motherboard. Now to get to it, it looks like i must unsoder 4 pin power things. I can't do this......its not easy. I have not found any good tuts on this model. All i have found, just get to boards top side. Now is there a newer PS2 model, that does not require this? Is there a easier model to mod with the Messiah2 ? |

v1, like you have, and v2 are more difficult installs. Not sure if the step you are trying to do is one you don't have to do with newer versions. Why are you modding a v1 anyways? Backups most likely wont even work cause of crappy lasers in early versions of ps2.

I agree that it is probably not worth modding a v1. I have done one version 1 install that worked but it had a brand new laser from sony in it. If you go here and do a search for "4pin" you should find someone that has also had the same problem and lists a link to a site that has alternate solder points that are all on the front. This is how I found my diagram, but it takes some searching.

Scratch that. I did a search and nothing came up. I did find alternate points here , but they come with a warning from Charlie_PS2. They worked for me but who knows what the longtrm or potentialy short term outcome could be.

Sell your current ps2 and buy a new one. That's your best route.

Thanx guys, i found the 2 ALT soder points. I will use them. I'm not waisting my time taking those 4 pins off, if i don't have to.

After a few hours , i gave up on the V1 PS2. The 4 soder points on the one chips legs, all next to each other. That looked a bit hard, even for me.
So i got my other sisters PS2 v7. Put a chip in it. Much easier. Works good. No probs at all. So i will take the advice. I will look for a v7 to replace that other sisters v1. Maybe at a pawn shop...lol. |

Even if you were able to get all the ponts soldered on thelegs properly it still probably would not have worked. Versions 1-4 had very bad laswers that die out quick. May read originals fine, your lucky if it does, but backups would be near impossible.
