Movie Formats

Ok, I just got ZOE2 and REALLY like the intro. So I wanted to encode it. First thing I noticed that liek ZOE1, all the movies are in 1 big file called movies.dat. *groan* This will be annoying to parse but not impossible.

However, second thing I noticed was that I couldent open or copy the file. When I tried to open it in a hex editor, it claimed that the file didnt exsist. And when I tried to copy it through dos or explorer it said that the file is an invalid format.

Ideas anyone?

Use ISOBUSTER to save files to your HDD then try using Winhex to view in Hex. It has a better success rate than other hex editors.

Sigh, ok I got the file, but so far everything I have tried to locate the movie files within the dat file have failed. I tried comparing it to a normal PSS file, but the dat file itself has the same headers and footers as the PSS file, almost appearing as one big movie. I know there are probably no rip kits out yet for this game since it just came out in the USA.........

Is there a quide or FAQ anywhere on extracting the movies hidden in .dat files? Or the structore of PSS and movie DAT files?

The DAT file you have is considered a MUNGE file. You will have to know how to code an extractor/rebuilder to be able to properly edit the movie files.
