The windows NT line of operating systems don’t have the ASPI layer preinstalled so you have to install it yourself. This might solve your problem. You can get it here.

When a file is locked you can't copy it. Use a dvd player software to unlock the files. Cineplayer DVD always works for me, I just run Cinepalyer and once the movie starts playing I close it and the files are unlocked and ready to copy.

Sometimes if the dvd is scratched just right, it just gets stuck for me. Try cleaning it with 2-Propanol, that always works for me.

Also, if the DVD has copy protection on it, it goes very slow for me too. There are ways to get around it though, just try ripping directly from DVDx, that goes by the chapter, not the vob file.

Dvdx can still convert files from dvd decrypter. In fact if you really wanted to you can rip in DVDx directly to dvix, without the huge file intermediates. Just open dvd root instead of ifo. This may damage your dvd drive though, so i never use it unless i am completely out of room.
