help with chips
bighap,
I have two PS2's ntsc v7 39001. One has a magic3 from modchip.ca the other has a magic3 clone. My problem is, they're not booting my dvdr's games. I tried three brands, tdk booted once. I emailed modchip.ca and they said it was my media. I tried TDK, Supermediastore brand, Sony(dvd+rw), and optodisc(dvd-rw). I have a Sony DRU 500A burner and I used EZCD platinum and Nero. Dvdr movies boot using reset hold till blue light method but goes to browser for about a second before starting movie. Is there another method to boot dvdr games? I'm using the same method for movies/PS1. I got your ID from DXC forum. Do you think I should get the messiah2 chip? Where can I get it? C.O.D.? I live in the US Virgin Islands. The guys at modchip.ca claims the messiah chip is a magic3 clone!

1 thing might be worng
u need to get rid of ezcd that program sucks and get record now max and primo dvd for the games and u might try useing ritek dvdrs they work great for copying and r cheap www.rima.com

Modchip.ca is full of sh*t saying that the Messiah is a Magic clone. They are just saying this because they know the Messiah 2 is better and because they only sell the Magic, not Messiah. Like Body said, try RecordNow Max. You can download a 30 day demo here. Trash EZ CD, it sucks. Follow the RecordNow Max tutorial here

I got RecordNow 4.5 with my DRU500A burner, I'll install and try burning a game. Do I need to get the PrimoDVD program? I installed RN 4.5 but the only backup option is called favorites. I'll D/L MAX demo and try it.

No, you don't need Primo. RecordNow Max is an updated version of Primo.

if a dvdr movie boots on same media but goes to browser few seconds i would say ps2 can read media but it struggles takes few secs extra
magic 3 has timing issues so if the ps2 takes longer to read the dvdr game it misses the boot sequence and fails the messiah2 would boot them np although your problem has been known on a few v7 u could try looking in the factiod dvdmedia and issues(stickied at top of the forum) LASER PARALLAX AJUSTMENT (THE WHITE COG) THIS HAS CURRED MOST V7 READING PROBLEMS AND PUT NO STRAIN ON THE LASER AS POT ADJUSTMENT WOULD
