Is the V7 PS2 still the latest ver on the market?
I want to go to the store today and buy a new ps2 so would like to make sure that the v5 v6 v7 no solder mod will work for it. The ps2 is not for myself so I do not want to go through the trouble of soldering one in.
If I order a nosolder mod now can I be sure that it will work in a ps2 I go to the store and buy new today? I want it for tomorrow so I am overnighting it. |

It depends on where you live. Here in the US the newest available I've seen is still the version 7. I think the version 8's are still in Russia, and the orient. I don't know the markings for the v8, so I can't to tell you how to differenciate. Someone else may know though.

From what I have read on a different post on this forum the only way to tell the difference is to look at the BIOS chip. V7 has 080 on it and V8 has B090.

I live in the US and just ordered a ver 7 no solder mod. If only the bios is different on a ver 8 the ribbon cables should hook up. My question is if the bios is different will the no solder mod still work?

I really don't know. I seriously doubt that you will receive a v8 though.

Don't worry about it iruleyou1, if you are in the US you don't have to worry about getting a v8 because they aren't here yet.
