Burning faster than 10x on 10x CDRWs ?

Is it possible to burn faster than the CDRWs rating? Nero, Roxio and some other programs do not seem to allow it - But I assume this a software limitation - Not a hardware one.

For the record, I have a 48x24x52 Lite-on drive.
