Nero vs. PrimoDVD...and More

I've never actually backed up a DVD game yet...but I'm curious...
Which is better to use...Nero Burning Rom (5.5.0.10) or PrimoDVD, and why???
Also, I recently burned a backup copy of The Blair Witch Project on a DVD-RW with Nero, using DVDXCopy and my Pioneer DVR-104, and the DVD-RW which was included with it (not sure what brand)...but when I put it in my PS2, I get a disc read error...why??? I don't have my modchip yet, should be here on Wednesday, but I've been told that a PS2 does not require a modchip to play a DVD-RW movie...

no modchip is needed for dvdr films

depending on your version of ps2 v1-v4 wont read dvdrw use dvdr
v5-v7 should read dvdrw

your main problem is nero movies burnt here with it wont play on a ps2,same movie burnt with prassi plays fine on a ps2

When you say you use Nero and dvdxcopy, do you mean you rip the movie using dvdxcopy and then open Nero to burn the image, or do you use the Nero option inside of dvdxcopy? Cause I use the Nero option in dvdxcopy and my dvds play fine on my ps2. What verson dvdxcopy are you using?

Yeah, there were some problems with older versions of Nero. I believe these were resolved with 5.5.9

I used Nero (5.5.10.0) to burn a copy of Grand Theft Auto for PSX...I haven't tried using it yet, since my modchip doesn't get here til tomorrow...
As for Blair Witch...I burned it onto a DVD-RW using DVDXCopy (v. 1.4.1)...
I have a version 4 PS2, I believe...
Maybe the problem, as dust2dust suggested is that v4 PS2's won't play DVD-RW's...

Right, more often than not a v4 won't play a dvd-rw. Dvd-r should work fine though.

One last thing...
Is there any big time benefit of using PrimoDVD over DVDXCopy for DVD-R movies???
And...is there any big benefit of using PrimoDVD over Nero 5.5.10.0 for backing up DVD PS2 games???

There is no real time difference, but I would use PrimoDvd for ps2 games over Nero. It's a little bit more reliable.

I've used RecordNow Max to copy smaller movies DVD5 (I think) and DVD xCopy for the DVD9s. They all work on my PS2, but I normally use our DVD player so I save my PS2's laser. I've tried just copying the movie portion of the DVD, but I just can't get it to work. I've tried deleting features and only copying the larger file like a few of you have helped me out with. Am I doing something wrong or is this not a feature that would be available right now?
