magic 3.1 us v7 maybe an alt w prob??

just got done chipping a ps2 for a friend in his brand new us v7. we uses the magic 3.1 because he wanted to save a few bucks. i know messiahs better lol ! have one in my sons machine and it works great :-) the problem is its only booting dvd originals and backups about 75% of the time. after tapping the reset you always get the blue into screen then sometimes the ps2 white lettering and the game starts up. other times instead of the game starting you see the browser or a black screen. mostly the browser when the problem happens only about 20% of the time is there the black screen. another strange thing is in max payne. game starts up fine then after all the intro stuff and its time to load the game you get the red screen. same game loads 100% on messiah2. does this sound like an alt w issue?? do you think moving w to its alt position will clear this up? already checked for bridges and everything looks good. hell been practicing with the razor and getting pretty good lol :-) should i resolder secx ??

thanks
