color problem with backups??

I created several backups of dvd movies on Ritek Primedisc DVD-R media with DVDXCopy 1.2.2 and Nero 5.5.10. I watched them in my PS2 V7, and they were crystal clear perfect.

I let a friend borrow them, who also watched them in his PS2 V4 with an apple mod chip. Here is exactly what he said, as far as the problem.

"I noticed that the color is 'off' on all of the DVDs, except for Silence Of The Lambs. Not sure how to explain it, but it seems as if the color is real dark & has a high contrast to it.

And it seems to 'cycle' back to normal color, but for the most part it remains real dark, the fleshtones are real red."

You guys have any idea as to what could be causing this for him?

ok, we think the problem may be very simple. right now his PS2 is running through his VCR, then to TV, so I think his VCR is f/ing up the signal to "prevent recording" haha
anyway, he is going to directly hook the PS2 up to TV and try it.
