First of all, does the game run with the original inserted and no crack applied ? If so, what happens exactly when you use the cracks ? Do they crash, do they give an error message, if so what message ?

yes the game does run with the original cd inserted but like i mentioned i want to put that disk away with the rest of my originals, when i use the nocd patch the game attempts to load then crashes and i get the standard Win XP error report window that asks if you want to send it to MS corp. (i do have a a .txt file with the exact errors but it is quite lengthy if u like i can email it to you if you think you can help me out. On the second attempt at starting the game i receive the windows message saying "the last time you ran this it crashed and will be started in safe grafix mode"
????????

I have never had this problem before and as far as i can tell maybe its a Win XP thing.

Make sure you're using the same language and version of crack as your installation. I don't think there's any other version than 1.0 out yet, so maybe you have a non-english version ? If you have an english version, there's a real problem here. Have you tried the Fairlight fixed exe on the same page too ? I know it's not a nocd but we have to start somewhere. Now you're ABSOLUTELY sure that it works with the original, right ? Just making sure that we're not overlooking something.

i will try again with the fixed .exe file i'm pretty sure i have tried it already but with all the things that i have tried its hard to keep track lol. Does the fixed .exe require a nocd patch?

The fixed exe is a crack where you can use any backup (even made with Nero) in the cd drive, because a simple cd check is still present. The nocd is a fixed exe that has also had this cd check removed so you can play without any cd in the drive. So you'll still need a backup disc in the drive, but any copy will work.

That seems to have done the trick thank you very much for your help, i must have had a setting wrong when i made the image and therefore not a true 1:1 copy.

SH2 uses Securom New, and that's impossible to copy exactly right now, at best you can make a 99.99995 % copy that will work now but maybe not in the next patch. The nocd's ARE better cracks than the fixed exe because they allow you to play without any cd. But if the nocd's don't work for you, the next best thing is of course the fixed exe. Now go stick your originals in a dog-and-children-proof safe and happy gaming
