G'day Insaneguy,
Well on the proviso that you correctly installed the 1.2 Fix (3 files to replace), as i did, I had a similar problem to yours & found out that BF1942 does not accept a refresh rate higher than 60Hz. So if your desktop refresh rate was higher than this I found that it would simply not switch over to the game as you said. The solution : go to your : BF1942 directory>Mods>bf1942>settings & open the video default directory (a con file) with Notepad or wordpad. When opened, the bottom line "renderer.allowallRefereshRates 0" as you can see the game doesnt allow refresh rates as the setting is 0 - change this value to 1 - as follows : "renderer.allowallRefereshRates 1" exit, save & you should be ready to go..... hope it works

Hi, everybody
This is my first post in this forum, after spending hour's searching various forum's, I have the same problem with !.2 fix on Win XP Pro corp. Work's fine on my 98se based rig, I've tried many suggestions, including retail patch's from 3 different places, I know other people with the same problem, we can run fixed 1.0 version no problem's, tried all sorts of combination's, 2 different fixe's with no luck, anyone care to shed a little more light on this? Thanks |

G'day Burner-Z,
Did you try the solution above your post ?? At my last LAN party it affected about 5 players also all running Win XP as well, changing the refresh rate value to 1 ran the game straight away for them. & are you absolutley sure you placed the files in the 1.2 crack / fix correctly in your game folder. i.e. BF1942.exe & BF1942.org in your BF1942 directory & the mod.dll file in your Battlefield1942>mods>bf1942 directory. Ensure you get a replace file window option & click yes. Dont extract the RAR 1.2 crack into your game folder as it wont work. The other file GameSpyHost.dll is only required if you intend playing online....otherwise dont replace it. Also..... if youv'e simply copy / pasted a game directory at a LAN party over the network from someone else's PC (naughty you), it wont run full stop as it does not pick up the registry entries. You'll need to do a fresh install from the original discs. Then apply the 1.2 patch & then the 1.2 Crack / Fix. Goodluck............

Watchout,
Tried everything, all the files are placed in the proper places, even went as as far a fresh install of XP, no luck. To bad my 98se rig is not my game rig, (test rig) goes through without a hitch in 98, did this a couple of time's. ( I won't copy game directories from other people). I'll keep messing with it, Thank's for the input, tried your refresh rate fix before i even posted. Thank's again Burner-Z |

Even 75Htz is noticable flickering to some people. You best start from 85 Htz for a flickerfree screen. Otherwise you'll just tire your eyes and maybe even get a headache. Microsoft is a bunch of drooling idiots, this problem STILL isn't fixed completely, although I can find more than a dozen third party utilities that fix it.

We have Battlefield 1942 running on 5 machines here on the LAN. The 1.2 no cd works fine on 4 of the computers. We get the same problem as Burner z does on one computer. That computer is an MSI MB with nforce chipset (first generation). It works fine on the ASUS KT333, ASUS CUSL2, Gigabyte KT400, and the INTEL 845.
Burner Z is your xp computer using the nforce chipset? SA |

Special Agent
It's a KT133a based chipset, Begining to think It's a lost cause, so far 3 of us tried it using different platform's from KT133's to KT333's and a Amd761 based, Only common denominator Win XP Pro Corp/w SP1. Yet anything under 1.2 no problems. I'm not giving in yet, Thanks for the input so far. Burner-Z |

had a similar problem - installed everything(the 1.2 crack) into right place, just would not start-eventually downloaded new nvidia drivers(41.09 i think)and hey presto it worked.
btw.i am running xp pro and u should uninstall all old nvidia drivers b4 installing 41.09 hope this helps somebody ![]() forgot to mention that prior to 1.2 everything else worked fine (1.0 crack and 1.1 crack and patch)for some reason i had to update my nvidia drivers for 1.2. Prior to driver update i used to click to play but remain on the desktop. Last edited by teggles; 13-01-2003 at 20:26. |

Euro version or US version
If you have the US version BF the 1.2 patch should work, but if you have the Euro version of BF1942 it will **** you!
