Messiah 2 - disc wont spin?? HELP!!!!

Hi all i recently installed a messiah 2 in my v5 ps2 using charlie ps2's guide. All the wires seemed to go on ok with no bridges but when i built it back up and tested it the disc wasn't spinning. It powered up ok and the drawer came out but the disc would only turn approx 1/10th of a turn then stop. If i closed the drawer with no disc in it would turn a few turns then stop. (I figured this was because there was no load on the drawer?) I have tried all disc formats and they are all the same. It may also be of relevance that when i first power the ps2 up instead of staying on the sony computer entertainment screen it goes straight to the screen where i get the option of browser or system settings (or something like that). Anyways i have checked for bridges and i couldn't see any so now im kinda stuck???

Someone please help surely someone else has had this problem.

Ok so iv now completely removed my messiah 2 chip but the problem is still exactly the same. The disc will only spin for approx 1/10th of a turn then thats it. The laser flashes once moves up and down then stops. Is the board f****d or could i have damged one of the resistors or fuses or even a flat cable? I have checked for bridges and i have found none.

Charlie (or any one else) have any ideas?

you have probably done this already...
have you checked your laser and drive connections to the board?

Iv looked at them but i suppose if one of the cables or laser is broken you wouldn't be able to see it. I could really do with another one just to try on and see if it works but my mates is a v4 and is different!!! How likely do you think it will be that the cables or laser have gone?

Thanx very much for the reply by the way.

I was not implying that the laser has gone, I was just advising you to check out all of your cable connections from the laser unit to the main board, same thing with the drive unit and the main board.

Charlie has done a guide on Messiah install fault corrections, this may be of some help to you.
