magic 2 wont boot PSX backup?

I cant get PSX backups that work on moded psx to work in
my moded ps2.

Scph-39001 ps2
magic 2 v7
Z wire not attached
1uf cap on s wire (to stop DVD skip)

PS2,PS1,DVD originals work
PSX backups dont I dont have any ps2 backups to try.
DVD+RW movie (the mummy) works fine.

Any ideas?
Is there a chip that just works throw in a disk and it works
no swap, no reset three times,and no stand on your head?

OK been reading

Thinking on asmuth adjust.

I have found a cd-r that works
very silver looking all my old backups look blue or green.

Please someone tell me all my backups arent no good.

Would adjusting asmuth or laser make the colored disks
work or would I be waisting my time?

Your back ups most likely are good. On the magic2 chip, there is a certain thing you have to do to get it to boot. I'll put up a full instruction list for you.

It is assumed that your machine is in the "Off" mode

PS2 games

Press EJECT button to switch on your machine.(tray will come out)
Insert PS2 game in tray, then press/tap the RESET button once.
Tray will close by itself, PS2 reboots and the game will load.

DVD movies

Press EJECT button to switch on your machine.(tray will come out)
Once the browser/system config screen shows. Select and go into browser.
Insert DVD movie in tray, then press EJECT button to close tray.
If the disc is not detected within 3-5 seconds. Press EJECT button to open tray. Once the tray opens fully, press EJECT button again to close tray. The disc should be recognise at least by the second time.

PSX games

Make sure disc (game) is in machine, then power off machine
Now hold the RESET button to start up your machine. Only release the RESET button once you see the first power (3-5 seconds) on screen on your TV.
Your PSX game should now boot (If it shows the PSX game as an audio cd. This means that you didn't hold the RESET button long enough. So repeat PSX loading instructions but hold the RESET button longer this time round when booting the machine)

I hope this is of use to you. I am a professional installer so I know what I'm talking about.

Thanks but I am putting it into PSX mode because I was able to
get some silver cd-r disks to work most of the time. It seems that the magic chip is working but not certin non silver color cd-r's are not.

Any more ideas?
