Question Mod question

I have what I believe to be a Version 2 PS2 . The model # is SCPH-3001 and the serial # starts with U07***** and it has 10 screws in the bottom . Now my question is , Should I buy a mod chip for this unit or would it be better to mod a new unit ? Are there any advantages either way ? I would prefer to use a non swap mod . Thanks in advance..

Yes it is a v2. Sell it and get a new v7. The laser in the v1-v4 sucked. You want a good laser especially when playing dvd backups. Get yourself the best chip around...Messiah 2. Contact charlie_ps2 or dust2dust on this forum if you're interestred. They cost $68.

Yes Bill at freedomlives does an excelent job. That is where I sent in my PS2. $60 install + $14 for him to ship it back. It will run you about another $15 to send your system to him. Still a good deal if you have no soldering experience.
