Check out doom9.net for dvd copying tutorials. Are you trying to play on a stand alone dvd player if so does your dvd player support dvd-r?

u can't just copy the files DVDdecryptor copies onto a disc and expect it to work. It's my experience that one file is missing i think it's called video_ts.ifo. it's the file that makes the movie play. You'll either need to use ifoedit or go through the process of reauthoring the movie.

Please do quote me on that as i'm at work. I've got a few decrypted movies awaiting re-encoding and authoring on my hard drive so i'll check them out tonight.

dvddecryptor doesn't create a VIDEO_TS.VOB, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO (i don't think the .BUP is required anyway). Without those files it won't play in a dvd player. Also you'll need the 2 directories VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS to be on the disc.

ok if you have a pionner 105 dvr/rw the best way i have found to backup dvds to play on ps2 is to do it this way.

firstly i found that backing up my dvds using copy on the fly (from one dvd rom to my writer) cause flaws when playing them on ps2 like freezing and the picture jerking so the best way i found out to do it to make them work perfect is use your dvdr as the reader to transfer them to your harddrive it will then ask when its finished transfering the file to your harddrive for a blank dvdr for to transfer the files. i done all mine with it and they all work perfect i will admit it take a little longer but it works out better.

Mind you if you want to try it the other way you might be lucky.

Oh peace of advice dont use smart ripper or anything like to rip them to hardrive then transfer them to dvdr cause i tried it that way and my ps2 wouldnt read the disks.

good luck all if you need any help please email me as i wont be on here for a few days but will check my emails everyday.

dvd backup

well personally i think some of u are wrong espescially about the disc to disk back up thing cos if u do it right its ok firstly you need to make sure the film is authored i re auhtor all my films have done 80 up till now then u need to burn it under the dvd video seting in nero burning rom but u need to make sure youve got some decent media anything like bulkpaq dont work very well or any cheap media you need to get a slightly beter media then if you set nero to verify the disc when finished if it says passed you can then do a disc to disc copy every time from the original backup

Disc to Disc is no problem as long as your hardware can handle it... ALOT of the older dvd roms are not fast enough to keep up when burning on the fly..... You can avoid alot of problems just by closing anything that is running in the background and is not needed...

Also, when you go to burn your dvd movie, you should have 2 folders.....

1st: VIDEO_TS
2nd: AUDIO_TS

Alot of times the second folder is not there... Before you burn, create the AUDIO_TS (make sure its in all caps) and leave the folder empty...

When you burn the disc, just make sure you are burning both folders.... This offers greater compatibility... It allows a movie to work in older dvd players and also in a Playstation 2....

ok guys for one if you had read my reply properly above you would have seen that i said that was the way I did my backups and also i said give disk to disk a try maybe others would be luckier. I never said that disk to disk was the worst way to do it cause its not. All i know is when i did disk to disk they worked on my dvd stand alone player fine but in the ps2 they were not so great and i wasnt the disks i was using cause i tried many different brands and they all did the same they did the same on my brother in laws ps2 as well. All i was saying was we all like to do it our different ways to get them perfect. I wasnt critising anyones views on how to backup there dvds i was just giving my info on how i did it.

Lollyruk - do you use Nero or another peice of software (RecordMax, DVDCopyX, etc.)?

Plus, will I need to ensure I have a specific firmware? I bought the drive yesterday and haven't installed it yet, but want to ensure I have the 'correct' setup

Plus - does it matter what speed I burn at? I got two "infinity" blank DVD-Rs - I guess these are not worth trying then?

and finally, can a PS2 read DVD-RWs???

tnx man
