Help Newbie

I currently have a plex 1610a but need to back up a few new games ie age of mythology and a few others will my plex copy the latest sd games and what will be the best software to use. At the moment I have been using clone cd an early version, but when I try and write the image on the HD it does not work. Any suggestions please.

I've got the same drive, it won't work. Plextor introduced code in it's firmware to deliberately mess up EFM encoding. The plextor 1210 with firmware < 1.04 will work perfectly, the 1610 and all further drives wont work anymore. I'm not buying plextor again after this little incident.

Well the models after the 16X all have almost perfect EFM coding - they never did have perfect coding. I have a 24X Plex and am happy with it's almost perfectness cos it's a very good quality drive.
I also have an LG to just complete the perfectness

What I was referring to was the 1210. You've got to admit it's very funny if the drive goes from two sheep to none after installing the damn latest firmware. Anyway I've got my suspicions and I'm not going to even consider buying a plextor drive when there's suspicions that they're deliberately doing this. Next drive I buy will be even more thoroughly researched, you can bet on that. I never had much success with amplify weak sectors either, so I don't even try these days.

an official statement from Plextor was last year, that never come EFM- Encoding with an Plextor- Writer, published on www.brennmeister.com, they should burn data, not copyprotected software. I think it was a headshot for plextor, my next drive would be from another manufacturer, now i still have the 1210 scsi with the 1.05 firmware and an 40x Ultraplex, a SD2.60 is no problem. many of my buddys will buy another one, when their plextor is damaged. i think not the velocity is important, 40x, 52x, it doesn't care, anyone really need this?
