Import Backup Questions

Hey there, I bought DDRMax imported from Japan, and because my crappy modchip (burn in hell sbox/neokey/whatever) won't play original PS2 imports, I have to make a backup of said game for it to work. But here's my question... How in the hell do I do that?

I've made the backup, and tried booting it from my GS2, but when I try booting it it will either A) Freeze at the Press X to continue, blahblahblah screen or B) It will continue from the press X to continue screen, the screen will go black, flash, remain black, and I can hear the disc wirring, but nothing is happening. So what am I doing wrong, or am I completely screwed in the situation? The PS2 is a 30001 (something to that extent) version, and I'm not sure about the GS2 version, it says GS2 V2 but that's all.

Any help would be appreciated, so here's my pre-emptive thank you.

What software did you use to make your backup?

Exactly what booting method did you follow?

DDRMax - CD or DVD based game?

I used CloneCD to make the image, and CDRWin to burn the image.

The boot method I followed was load GS, turn modchip on during GS loading, boot game without codes, insert disc, press eject button to close tray, press X right as tray closes.

DDRMax is a CD based game.

If you used Clone CD to make the image, why on earth did you use CDRWin to burn with....

Stay with using CloneCD for ALL of your cd based burning needs...

Try re-burning with CloneCD..... Your boot method should work....

Have you been able to get any other cd based games to boot?

I didn't use Clone CD to burn them image because I have a demo version of Clone CD that only allows you to make images, not burn them.

All my PSX games boot fine, haven't tried any other PS2 cd based games.

Try another PS2 game (not a import).... See if that backup will boot with the burning methods you have listed....
I need to do some research to find out if the Neokey/Sbox will even boot import games....Cause I'm not sure if it will or not...

If you burn another PS2 game and it works, it may be because it won't boot imports....

I'll find out for sure and let you know....

Well according to This it can't boot original imports, which I knew, but it doesn't say anything about import backups... but I'd assume it could.

You are most likely out of luck on import games....

All the mod chip is doing is making the PS2 "think" you have inserted a original game....Thus since this chip won't boot original imports, it most likely will not boot a copy of a original import...

May be the time to update to a better chip..

Yarrr... I was afraid it might come down to that. But sadly, while I probably could install it but wouldn't take my chances, there's nobody around here to install them for me. And furthermore I'd have to upgrade my Ps2 (get a new one) in order for me to be able to upgrade the modchip... Looks like I lose.
