UT2003 revisit--copy installs ok but won't play
Sorry--there's probably dozens of posts on this but would like to revisit ut2003-USA. Here's what I did. I created basic images with latest version of Blindwright suite for all 3 discs using SAO cooked mode and it installs fine but disc 1 will not work. Works great with no-cd thingy. But I wanted to create a good play disk. So I tried using the procedures for new securom from faq version 1.4. I thought I did everything right but the disc is unreadable. Just hangs the system while trying to read it
Here's what I did: -Created basic image of disc 1 from BlindWrite -Used a BWA builder to build physical characteristics file and gave it same name as image -Burned disc using DAO PQ. Here's my log(did i miss a step?)--Maybe because I used max speed? ***----- Image verification started -----*** HD image is OK Sector: Bad headers 1 - Bad Edc 0 - Weak 0 - Status 1 File systems: Volumes 2 - files 1272 - folders 70 Volume size 651186 boot 0 Vol ID UT2003_CD1 - 9/19/2002 8:36:00 PM Status 1 ***----- Image verification ended -----*** Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2195) Patin-couffin version 9 in use Blindwrite Version 4.2.3.33 ***----- CD DEVICE INFO START OF REPORT -----*** CAUTION : Using unknown CD writer. Vluka--not sure what you mean. "Try in other one" Do you mean try to see if the disc 1 cd copy I made works in another cd-reader? I actually have 2 pcs. One with a TKD VeloCD and another pc with an old Sony DVD drive. Both machines cannot read the cd. Just hangs both systems.

If you want, i can send you an EXE, for which you dont need the CD Anymore (if you want)! One to One Copies of UT 2003 (and others) can make problems! A friend of has got the Problems with the Orginal CD of UT 2003. The new Copy Protections is just ****!

He's trying to make a 1:1 copy of the game - well, almost 1:1, a fixed exe/No-cd is often the last resort.

Hey VLuka just wanted to say thanks. The method of using Alcohol and Twinpeaks in your FAQ for Securom >4.8x worked out for me. The image is readable but fails to install--HOWEVER the image that I burned from Blindwrite as I mentioned before installs fine. The new image using Alcohol and Twinpeaks definitely fooled the program into thinking it's the play disc which was one of my goals. I was hoping to use only 1 disc for both setup and play disc but that's alright I can use 1 for each. I'll probably still use the no-cd patch but just didn't want in the future to look for it in case I remove unreal and reinstall it. Anyhow thanks again!
Oh btw just in case anyone's wondering--I burned the disc on one pc but play it on a reader only DVD drive on another machine. ~dskyze |
