Help!! Magic 2 problem!

Hey ppl. I got a Magic 2 chipped into my system a few weeks ago. Ever since then, my games have been freezing randomly. I've tried different games and It seems that this random freezing only happens to dvdr games, not cdr games. Anyway, sometimes, the dvdr games don't even load and the red screen comes up. If I'm lucky the game does load but then freezes at some point.

Take Final Fantasy X Intl. as an example. Sometimes, a black screen comes up when I try to load a save game. Or it takes forever for me to change players during battles. Or the monster doesn't appear when I'm in battle mode. Or yuna's summon freezes.

By the way, I used to have a Neo 2.2 in my system before I got the Magic 2. That time, every single game worked dvdrs and cdrs.

I tried connecting the ps2 system on its own to a wall socket and that didn't help. I followed the boot procedures for a Magic 2 and that also didn't help. By the way, I'm running the system thru a vga box that requires power thru the memory card slot.

Oh, and another problem, my ps2 system has never been able to play orignal import ps2 games. I tried it with GT Concept: Tokyo Geneva 2002 (imported from Hong Kong) and it never booted.

Could all of these problems have to do with my laser? Does it need adjusting? Please HELP!!!

What brand media are you using and have you tried a laser cleaner?

I'm using mainly mitsui dvdrs. But that shouldn't be the problem. I've been using the same dvdrs before with my Neo chip and there was no problem with running the games.

Any specific laser cleaners I should get or will any type do?

Just one that has the little brushes on it. It's a cd.
