Problems making back-ups to dvd-r
Am currently having problems making backups to dvdr. Am using pioneer dvr 104 and primoDVD2. I backed up time splitters 2 at weekend. It worked okay but loaded very slowly compared to the original.
I tried backing it up again on lowest read and write speed but same problem. This was using bulk Paq Gen.3 DVDr. Have bought some bulk paq Gen. 4 DVDr today and tried backing it up again. It does load slightly faster with these but still not as good as original. So, looks like bad DVDR media. Has anyone else had probs with bulk Paq dvdr's. Can anyone recomend better dvdr's to use. Should I be using Pioneer DVDR's for burner or Sony DVDRs for ps2??

I burned it with a A03 fw 1.90 onto a TDK dvd-r. It loads just as fast as the original.

Okay. Have had lots of people telling me that Verbatim are the best dvd-r media to use ( although the most expensive also!!). Using the same image as I wrote time onto the bulkpaq, i wrote a verbatim back-up. This loads a lot faster when it works but only actually loads up about 1 in 5 times where as the bulk paq loads up every time but very slowly so now am totally confused!!
Will try and find another modded PS2 to prove whether its my ps2 lazer and if not will try tdk and traxdata. If neither of those work, must be my Pioneer dvr A04.

Okay. Time to wrap up. Have read on this forum that if you have 2x media then you should burn at two speed. if you burn at one speed you over burn the write layer. So tried burning a verbatim dvd-r at 2 speed and it failed the write twice. Once at 71% and then on the second burn at 90% ( two more coasters to add to the collection!!!). so tried burning a Bulkpaq generation4 2x dvd-r at 2 speed and EUREKA!!!! it burned perfectly and loads up as fast as the original every time.... So to conclude....... um doesn't seem to be any hard and fast method but it would seem that Bulk Paq gen4 dvd-r's are cheap, tops and remember to burn at 2 speed. Ta to all who replied!!!!
