Trying to use Primo but didnt work...

Used Primo to backup Hotshots Golf3. Went by the Primo guide by Charlie. I'm using Memorex media and the famous pioneer 104 with the px engine upgrade and the firmware upgrade. When booting it on the PS2 it gets past the PS logo but either goes to the 'Please insert a psx or ps2 game" or memory card screen. Not sure what happened. It said it burnt it successfuly. it does play cd-r backups without any problems. any ideas?

ok this is how we do it....
go to full application and then go into tools and drive tuning and make sure auto insert notifacation is off as it can screw up a backup.
then reboot.
open prassi and just do the disc copy on the start up.
i use traxdata dvd-r disks no fails as yet. gl

yeap i got auto insert off. and rebooted. Well i found out that my PS2 plays original psx games, psx cd-rs, original ps2 dvd-rom games and ps2 cd-r backups. It wont play the dvd-r copies or dvd movies. I tried cleaning the laser but nothiing.

i had just the same problem as you just 1 week ago.
the strange thing was that my first ps2 played all my dvd backups
but then it went haywire and sony replaced it but this one would not play any of my backups. i thought it was the lazer as it might be in your case but i just changed to traxdata dvd-r and it plays fine every time. i even recopied from backup to trax and they work aswell. so just try another brand dvd-r it might be that you have an old version ps2 and it wont pick up dvd+r but it might pick up dvd-r . just stick with it .
i also have a lot of costers too.
trial and error. once u get the combo right its easy.

ps... you can only make 1 back up of a ps2 game
and you must own the original game ;-) lol

AND WHAT MODCHIP ARE YOU USING M8......???

I was gonna try TDK brand but it was $5.99 for one so i said hell with that. I'll do a little shopping. Thinking about buying some sample dvd-r discs from meritline.com. Its a 12 pack of brands like Optodisc, accu, meritline.

i got the Magic2. And yes i wired the damn thing up. It was a pain!!! I'm gonna buy some Verbatim dvd-rs at bestbuy. they have 15pack for $44. just about $3 each. I might buy bulk of meritline to make backups of DVD movies then if you say they work alright?

Got some Verbatims and backed up NBA live 03, Sly Cooper, and Stuntman. All booted first and no problems. But on the other hand, those Memorex DVD-Rs didnt do so good. I only got 1 out of 4 to boot.
