Question Backing up a backup

It's silly, but I can get the difficult stuff done but am having difficulty with what everyone says should be easy. Got DJ 3.5, Clone CD 4.0.13, NTI 2000 and I still can't make a playable backup off a backup. Tried following the instructions here ( http://www.megagames.com/dc/dc_backup_faq.shtml#4 ) and still no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use "Copy CD from reader to recorder". It works 100%.
If you have only 1 drive, make an image ("CD recorder to image") and then burn it ("Burn an image").

Gave it another couple of runthroughs and still nada. When I put the disk into the DC...straight to the music CD screen and nothing happens. Maybe it's a setting or a speed I'm getting hosed on. Is there a max write speed I'm going over on since I'm running max on a 24x? On Advanced, it's set to Mode:Audio, Offset:0, Block:2352, TOC:CD-DA, and the onlything in Misc that's checked is Overburn.

I had this trouble with some low quality CD's I bought a while ago. I burn a 24x & never have this trouble. I know it's a stupid question, but your not using Rewritables are you? as I know of one person who was.

No RWs. Started out w/ cheap Durabrand. Figured that might be an issue so jumped to the Fujis I keep for audio CDs and also tried my good Maxells and TDKs(which are what the original back ups are on). Regardless of brand the only any non-boot comes thru fine. Self boot frag tho. Leads me to believe it's a setting or something I'm doing wrong. Just about at the point where I try to figure out how to make the games non self bootable.

Here's where I sound stupid.
I think it supports multi-session.
Here's the CD-RW I'm using
http://www.lgeus.com/Product/CD/GCE_8240b.asp
I'm also on WinME if that makes anykind of difference.
Tried this morning of dropping the write speed down to 10x (before seeing the 2nd to previous post), changing the mode to Mode1 and Mode2. Still, utter failure with everything except non-self booting games. Maybe I should give up on this and try to figure out how to make a self booting into a non-booting game.
BTW: I am really thankful of all advice so far

I remember burning my first backup game - what a nightmare. Who knows how many coasters. I read heaps of FAQs on burning a backup - none really helped until i've used some common sense. Here is what I did.
I use Nero Burning Rom 5.5X
1) Get Nero if you dont have it , Put your backup in ur cd rom drive
2) Fire up Nero, cancel the window that comes up
(For a successful burn you need to make a nrg image on your hard drive)
3) Click on Recorder in the menu then choose Recorder; select Image Recorder (virtual device) then click OK
4) Click on File; New; then click on wizard in the new window that pops up. Click Next, select Copy CD,Next, select the source drive that contains the backup cd,Next and finally click on Burn
Sit back and wait until the NRG file is created
After its done restart Nero, click on Recorder, Choose Recorder Now select your burner (so that now the image will be burned on a cd, not hard drive)
5) Click on File,Burn Image >locate the created NRG image file on your hard drive, insert a blank cd if you havent done so yet choose the speed and burn it.

Now I see your problem, read alot about generic CD Recorders such as LG Drives being CRAP & the cause of most recording problems!
Read about same problems using LG Drives coping PS2 Games.

So I would 100% try a different "good brand" CDRecoder that supports different write modes etc. Mabe try a friends...
I have a Yamaha & LiteOn 40x/12x/48x both are awesome & cheap now around $40! Then I have a Ricoh which is crap!

Brand of CDR shouldn't matter I use Generic and burn at 20x / 40x works great!

CloneCD (like the best) just coping usng the basic Game copy mode works fine, Djuggler, CDrwin should all work fine.
