Can't copy ANYTHING anymore - please help !!
Hi,
what happening here?! I can't copy a thing! Every program such as Nero 5, Disc Juggler and even CloneCD keep reporting either reading errors or "incosistencies"...hey, I DID make backups with this computer, with this CD-ROM and -writer already without any trouble! I re-installed all programs...now I just re-installed Windows after formatting the HD..I even used Win98 now instead of my former ME...but no effect. It's still the same. And it can't be the programs I'm trying to backup because the very same discs were copied on a friend's computer without any difficulties. I really don't know what to do anymore. PLEASE help me! Read errors on ALL media surely means a problem with your CD reader. Try a cleaning flail CD and if that doesn't work, the laser may need calibrating or if it's a crap make or old, buy another.

Thanks for your reply, but the problem I have is rather strange. The drive is only six months old and I tried using the other drive, the CD-writer, to read out the disc and to make an image, but the same read errors occur. What could that be?

OK. So it's something other than the first port of call I suggested. What is your exact PC configuration in relation to this problem? Perhaps the answers to the following questions may help distant diagnosis:
1 Confirmation that your copy programs are legal or in demo date 2 Model of CD Reader and connexion details 3 Model of CD Writer and connexion details 4 What can you do with the devices?
