Are we perhaps into questions of EIDE bus conflict? Hard disk, CD reader and CD-Writer on the same side (Primary) and as Slaves? I've read somewhere on the PSX forum that the CD-Writer should be the Master on the Secondary side or at least not on the same side as the Hard Disk -, or something like that.

The burning programs calibrate themselves and the question is more critical with discerning software (Easy CD Creator is really simplex")

To confirm my earlier response:

EIDE is an extended version of IDE allowing two I/O requests to be proceesed in parallel. There is a primary and a secondary channle and each of the two devices on each channel will be assigned as a master or a slave. If the slower CD-burner is on the same channel as the hard disk, then it can hold up the very traffic needed to feed the burner utility's buffers during a burn.

So the CD-burner should be placed as the secondary master. That should speed operations up and certainly make the chances of succes higher.

I think is a software problem....
Some versions of Easy CD Creator most of them "pirated versions" has this bug...
Try installing a most recent version of cd creator....or try with a different burning soft else Adaptec.
I don't know if after Roxio takes the company, these protection schemes still lives.
