Arx Fatalis & Update 1.12

I like to play the update 1.12 of Arx Fatalis, german version, but I don't like to insert the original game disc every time I start the game. By mounting the CD-Image using Daemon-Tool 3.16 (read the posting of juergen, 05-08-2002, in the thread 'Arx Fatalis') the game sometimes starts but sometimes not. Moreover requires this method 690 MB additional discspace.

By using the writer Lite-On LTR-32123S it seems to be impossible to make a working 1:1 copy of the game 'Arx Fatalis'. The 'writer' can read and write subchannel-data and handles irregular EFM-encoding. I have tested it with CloneCD v4.0.1.10 and Blind Read/Write v4.0.5.40/48 but the copy doesn't work.

My first question: WHY ??

The Game is protected with securom*new*. I have also tested the program 'unsecurom' to remove the protection from the main executable. But the version 1.0 of unsecurom crashes during the process.

My second and third question:

Is there a NEWER version of unsecurom out ??

Is there anywhere a working no-cd crack out for the UPDATE 1.12 ??

I have the same writer, the LiteON 32123S.
It seems that these writer has problems with securom *new* in CloneCD. I have copied securom games (WarCraft3 for example) with CD MATE and the included Securom settings.

First of all:
The Copyprotection of Arx Fatalis is NOT Securom New !!
It is a New Version and is so called: Securom New V2 !!

Many programs (like ClonyXXL) cannot identify it, and wrongly think it is Securom New. But there is a program that can identify it : It is called Scout (New Version 2.2 RC3). Go catch it at: www.entf.de
The team behind this program knows many things about it, and speaks about it in their forum. So you can get a closer look. (it is in german)

Until now, it is not possible to crack this Copyprotection

I read about this in many many boards and forums, so I am up to date.

A working NoCD is also not available at this time.

So, I am sorry, but if you want to play Version 1.12 (what I STRONGLY recommend), you have to use my way with daemon tools 3.16. I know, it doesnt start everytime, but better than never

I love this game, and will keep on searching for new details.
Of course I will pass all my knowledge to this forum...

Warcraft 3 doesnt have the Securom New V2 !!
It is possible to burn it (with the Securom New parameters).

Well, theres one thing i dont understand:

I made a clonecd copy, and mounted it with daemon tools 3.16, but it never started.

Then i patched the game to v. 1.12 and it did not start.

Next thought was to go to gamecopyworld and get the nocd crack for v. 1.10.

I replaced the exe and, guess what, it worked.

So the copy protection seems crackable to me.

But one question remains. Since the game displays the version on startup, which is 1.1 i'm not quite sure if im playing the version 1.12 or 1.10. Because the data2.pak of the official patch was version 1.12 and the nocd.exe version 1.10.

Maybe one of you guys can tell me, which version i'm dealing with and if the savegames of this version still work in the next update, which has been anounced few days ago.

you can't use the image of the burned copy!! yo need a original image like this one: 06.30.02.Arx.Fatalis.GERMAN-Souldrinker
(this is a copy of the original game disk)

but i need the no-CD patch for version 1.12
i asked myself: why does it takes so long? i mean, the 1.12 patch is released at 07-25-2002 (for my german listeners: 25.07.2002 )

You are playing Version 1.10 !!
You can see the Version "1.12" in the starting window, when you updated it correctly.
The cracked exe is only for Version 1.10.
You have the data2.pak from version 1.12 but it is not supported by the Version 1.10 EXE. It means, the changes dont take effect.
But dont worry, the savegames are compatible.

I am sorry for the bad news...

But if you follow my instructions VERY CLOSE (in the Topic called "Arx Fatalis"), then you will be able to play Arx Fatalis version 1.12
Everybody I know can play it with daemon tools (so why you shouldnt be able to do it ?).

I dont understand, why you play the old version, allthough have have the original backup ?

I dont know why it takes so long for the NOCD 1.12 to come out...
The NOCD for 1.10 raised quite quick


But there is a little sunlight at the end of the tunnel:

And there is a new daemon tools Version out ( brings it to 3.17). Lets see, if the mounted image starts the first time with the new daemon tools Version (instead of 2nd or 3rd time with Version 3.16).

So, so weit ich das sehen kann, sprechen hier alle deutsch, also weg mit Englisch und her mit der Teutonensprache *zerr*.

@ Juergen danke erstmal für die Hilfe, ich hab mich halt nur gefragt, welche Version ich nun laufen hab, weil im Jowood Forum stand, dass die eigentlichen Spielverbesserungen und Bugfixes im File data2.pak enthalten sind. Naja...

Leider läufts weder mit den neuen Daemon Tools, noch mit Deiner Methode...startet und dann tut sich nix mehr..hmm also entweder cd ständig einlegen oder version 1.10...

Welche Erfahrungen hast Du denn bisher mit Version 1.10 gemacht? Ist das Spiel wirklich so Bugverseucht oder wie ist das...ich trau mich gar net so recht anzufangen....

Mir ist allerdings aufgefallen, dass Du von einer Securom new Emulation bei den Daemon Tools sprichst, ich kann aber nur normales Securom einstellen, aber ich nehme mal an, dass Du das meintest, oder irre ich mich?

aber!! im prinzip is das egal! du brauchst die Securom new Emulation nicht! du brauchst nur'n image von der ORIGINALEN game cd!! und das hat, wie ich bereits sagte, z.B. der 06.30.02.Arx.Fatalis.GERMAN-Souldrinker release! (den ich aber auch nicht mer hab @juergen )

zu der *.exe:
@Magoo1860 du spielt die 1.10, und das kannste mir glauben, da ich das zur zeit auch zock und die bugs sind einfach %*"‹À
das game stürzt bei fast jeden laden ab (und du muss oft laden, wenn du z.B. zw. den ebenen wandern willst)

also an deiner stelle würde ich echt auf den 1.12 crack warten, da es sonst einfach kaum spass macht

PS: nur um dir das nochmal vor augen zu führen
ich hab ne weile gezockt und hatte nur 2 save games (eins, wo ich weit war, das andere, wo ich nich so weit war )
dann is das game abgestürzt und hat mir das save gelöscht, wo ich am weitesten war und ich konnte alles nochmal zocken

sowas is echt nervig und deswegen brauch ich unbedingt'n crack

erstmal zu Magoo1860 (geheimnisvoller Name ):

Mir leuchtet ein, dass Du glaubst:
"wenn ich den data2.pack vom Patch habe, ist automatisch alles in Butter".
Leider ist das nicht so; ich beweise es Dir hier mal:
Einer der offensichtlichen Bugfixes der Patches 1.12 ist, dass der "Schleichen" Knopf nun richtig gespeichert wird. Der ist sonst immer beim Neustart wieder weg.
Ich habe mal den NOCD crack der version 1.10 und den neuen data2.pak (wie Du es auch spielst) verwendet.
Und siehe da, der "schleichen-Knopf" ist nicht belegt !
Das heisst, wenn Du mehrere Dinge der gleichen Art aufnehmen willst, hälst Du normalerweise "Schleichen" gedrückt und klickst links drauf, doch das funktioniert nicht. (erst mit der richtigen 1.12 EXE gehts)
Auch andere Bugfixes, die nicht so offensichtlich sind, waren nicht da.

So, soviel zum Beweis

Das es bei Dir nicht mit meiner Methode läuft ist verwunderlich.
Bei mir geht es so:
Beim 1.mal starten gehts bei mir auch nie. Aber beim 2. oder 3. mal klick auf die Verknüpfung gehts dann immer (es dauert aber 20 Sekunden vom klick, bis zum Start des Spiels !!)

Meine Erfahrungen mit 1.10 waren nur von kurzer Dauer.
Ich hatte aber nicht soviele Abstürze oder das es gar meine Savestände zerhauen hätte, wie bei in_utero (wieder so ein geheimnisvoller Name ).
Habe aber im Jowood-Forum gehört, dass es durchaus auch anderen Spielern passiert ist !! Das ist fatal !! (wie der Spielename schon andeutet )

Ich meinte natürlich die Securom - Emulation bei daemon.


Nun zu in_utero:

Dann wirds aber höchste Zeit, dass Du zu einer Videothek läufts und das Spiel ausleihst. Dann hast Du auch eine Original image. Oder Du nimmste eben wieder die, von der Du immer redest (habe allerdings noch nie davon was gehört...).
Am besten Du kaufst es Dir aber !! Habe ich auch gemacht, und damit Jowood unterstützt (wir wollen doch alle ein Arx Fatalis 2 oder ??)

Ich hoffe für Dich, dass der Crack bald rauskommt.
Falls Du ihn vor mir findest, kannste es ja hier posten.

PS: leider hilft daemon tools 3.17 auch nicht weiter.
Auch hier muss man es 2 oder 3 mal versuchen, bis es startet (dauert dann etwa 20 Sekunden).

Okay, danke erstmal an euch beide, für die schnellen Informationen.

@Juergen: Was ist denn an meinem Namen geheimnisvoll? Ein ganz normaler Internetnick, der zum einen Teil auf meinen Vor- und Nachnamen verweist und zum anderen Teil auf meine Vorliebe für einen bayrischen Fussballverein.

Tja ansonsten, wie gesagt ich kriegs nicht zum laufen egal was ich mache. Das interessante ist: Wenn ich den No-CD Crack benutze und dann starte merke ich bereits am Festplattengeräusch ob das Spiel startet. Spiele ich wieder die Original .exe drauf, klingt der Ladevorgang völlig anders...sehr seltsam..leider läufts auch nach 20 Mal starten nicht (v.1.12)..sehr zu meinem Ärger....

Also ich denke ich werde trotzdem mit 1.10 anfangen und die Savegames regelmässig sichern.

Ha, es gibt Neuigkeiten von meinem CloneCD Kampf mit Arx...

Habs nochmal ein letztes Mal probiert, diesmal aber den Virenscanner ausgeschaltet und alle Optionen angestellt, und....siehe da....Juergen hatte recht...nach 5 Versuchen läufts auf einmal (scheinen jedemal genau 5 zu sein).

Funktioniert einwandfrei und jetzt zeigt er auch endlich beim Start v. 1.12 an...Klasse! Ab in die Unterwelt...
