Which Version To Get?

I'm going to be getting a PS2(and Magic 2 chip) rather than an XBOX but I've been doing some research and I'm not sure which version to get?

Should I try to get the newest one(v7)? Is there an advantage in doing this?

no try and get a version 5 as the newest one v7 cant be chipped yet.

Wrong the v7 can be chipped with the Magic 2. Any advantages would probably be a better laser.
