Ihave a teac w54e (EXTERNAL BURNER)the problem Im having is I cant get my burner to both read and write an image to my hard drive using clone cd or cdrwin, but if I use my computers cd rom drive to read the image it works fine. clonecd says my burner is compatible and one of the better read and writers.also if I try to burn on the fly it says cant do because computer and burner are on the same IDE cable if so how can i make it so my burner can read on the fly. thanks newbie needs help

Um what burning software do you use? Also burning on the fly generally produces lower quality copies.

I suggest you use ClonyXXL and CloneCD (full version). Clony will detect the best settings to use in CloneCD and loads the settings into CloneCD.

the same ide cable is an internal writer error. this stems from the fact that the same IDE cable may connect to both the reader and writer. IDE is a 1 way cable, and telling it to do a read and write operation at the same time is not a good idea. how do you connect your burner to your comp? firewire or something? is this an attachment on the front of your pc, or the back? more info needed
