Question making a 1:1 backup

I have a Diamond Data 16x10x40 burner, and I am trying to make a perfect backup without using cracks or patches.
My burner supports RAW DAO mode too. But when I use clone CD to write the image, it writes it at only 100 kb/sec and usually drops to 25 kb/sec. Does anyone know what is wrong with it?
With this low rate, will it eventually finish the image?
