How do I create a backup of Warcraft III?

Does anyone know how to create a perfect backup copy of the warIII cd? I've tested WinCDR, Nero, CloneCD 4 and both CD-R's and CD-RW's with little result.

Little as in, the game actually started once with a CD-RW copy but just once, when it just had been burned. I haven't gotten it to work since then.

Has anyone successfully made a working backup? (That doesn't need cracks or bull$#%!)

Please tell me how, which programs, (where to get), settings, media etc..

I have WinXP, a cd-burner and a samsung dvd-reader.

i bought a kind-of noname bulk cd-writer, so i don't know really much about it. But i've made perfect working backups of games like Diablo II with it, so i know it supports important stuff.
the cd-burner reports this:
Manufacturer: ATAPI
Product: CD-R/RW 24X10
Revision: P.MJ

since ATAPI isn't a manufacturer but a connection standard, that couldn't be it. The sample CD-R and CD-RW that came with it where "Acer" type so maybe it is it.

So, anyone that knows how to copy war3?

I didn't mention it, but when i run the backup cd in the dvd-reader, it works fine, but when it's in the CD-burner (which also is where it was installed from), it fails.

I've read tips on this thread, handling the same subject, but i've still failed to create a PERFECT copy of the game (which works in all cd-readers/writers, or at least in all that the original cd works in).

I've got the latest version of Clony available (2.0.0.6) and it does NOT detect any protection on the cd-rom (which, obviously, is wrong, since i can't copy it.)

My cd is "Manufatcured in the E.U." but contains the same content as the english version of the game with two "War3.mpq" files in the root (not visible in Windows Explorer) and everything.

GLH is on a distinguished road
I've bought the german version of WarCraft III and it's protected with SecuRom New.

You all need a burner or a cd-rom that can read SubChannel-Data.

I've takes CloneCD4.0.19 read with at least 4x speed incl. reading Sub-Channel-Data from both (Data + Audio) Tracks.

Then burned the image back to CD-R with again at least 4x speed and the "Don't repair Sub-Channel-Data"-Option (It the importent thing!).

The copy works PERFECT !!!

...and RODIK: The copy doesn't work in your burner, cause the burner can read ATIP-Informations from inserted disc. So it can checks "Is it a CD-R or CD-RW or normal CD-Rom?". Use your DVD-Rom to start the game with your Backup-Copy or if you really want use your burner enable the "Hide CD-R Media"-Option in CloneCD Tray (right-click the little red CD-Icon in the tray of your taskbar!).

I hopy it helps you...

Yes, using that function helped. Thanks for your help!

So I guess you just CAN NOT make a perfect copy of a pressed cd then? Or is there some cd-media that doesn't contain any ATIC info?

I mean... Wtf"Is it a CD-R or CD-RW or normal CD-Rom?" ? What kind of question is that? Stupid blizzard should just run the game. That's so gay, I hate stupid gay lame ass fuck blizzard... how the fuck are supposed to make legal fucking backup copies if we can't use fucking cd-r's? what tha fuck are we supposed to fucking use then, huh? fuck that.

"Oh, but you can get a new copy from blizzard if your doesn't work."

Oh, but guess what, those fuckers want the broken fucking cd sent to them in order to send me a new fucking cd, and just how the fuck am i supposed to send a lost fucking cd or a completily fucking broken one? am i supposed to sweep the fucking rest of the cd particles and dust into a fucking bag and mail it to them?

"Oh, but if you're a registered user..."

Oh, and who tha fuck ever registers his/hers fucking games nowadays, huh? what if i've lost my fucking registration card, wtf am i supposed to do then?

fuck that, fuck blizzard for making their war against piracy go out over their truthfull customers

well, then, after that tirade, perhaps some insight into why there are cd protections in the first place.

1. Blizzard presold 4.5 million copies of warcraft 3

2. Razor released warcraft 3 june 20th

3. Blizzard released it july 3rd

ATIP info is necessary for a cd-writer to know the optimal laser power / lead in lead out location / data capacity ecetera of the cd-r. every cd-r has it. every backup you make that doesnt work because of the ATIP is a perfect backup. as long as no data is modified, its perfect. and since none was....

and everyone registers their games, if they buy them. unless they are retarded. or pirates. .

Unhappy Copying WarCraft 3 with LiteOn LTR-24102B

From reading a few posts in the forums here I have noticed that many people have reported trouble making a backup copy of WarCraft 3 using a Liteon 24x CDRW (LTR-24102B), and while some people have posted suggestions, no one has actually reported success with this burner. I have tried Blindwrite, CloneCD, ClonyXXL, even updated my firmware to the latest and tried them all again, and still no luck. My backup copy does not autorun when it should and any file on the CD I try to run gives me an error message that says "file is incomplete or corrupt". I am running WinXP Professional and have decent hardware (T-Bird 1.2, 384MB CAS2 PC133 RAM, etc.). Has anyone found a way to make a good backup copy with this burner? I also have the very latest versions of all the software I am using (actually uninstalled and redownloaded all of it today). If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Also I can be emailed at [email protected] if anyone has a solution and feels like being really nice.

Thanks!
