Cannot play Audio CD on car player

I apologise if this has been discussed here before, but I am at a loss. I can burn audio cd's OK using Nero @ 4X, even 2X - these will play fine on my puter, and on my home CD player, but not in my car CD player. Is there anything I am missing here?

I have experimented with several of the leading brands, also el cheapos, but nothing works. Guess i'm stuck.
I see more mfrs are getting on the wagon with mp3/cd players - would these be more amenable to burnt cds I wonder?

Stupid Question

Did you convert the MP3's to the file format read by normal CD players? That could make a BIG difference...
