What is the best software for MP3 to mix CD's?

I have had no luck in returning a mix CD that was converted to mp3 back to CD without gaps, clicks or other errors. eg, dance compilations, all tracks mixed. I am not a newbie in any way and have tried WinOnCD after it was recommended. I have also tried NTI CDmaker pro and nero. I have a 8220 plex but that shouldn't matter. A friend has said they managed to get the mp3's back to the CD fine but I haven't heard the resulting quality. I have tried many different settings but still no joy. Can anybody help?
