no text with gta3

Hi I'm new to the board so please excuse the dumb question.

I recently got gta3, installed it on my computer (XP)

Game will start OK, but all the text is missing only rectangles show up in both the main menu and durring the game ???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh I tried unistalling and reinstalling the gamen - no diff ???

This is an XP problem. You need to download the patch "Computer Coming Out of Standby/Hibernation"

You can find the link in the readme file of the game.
