sims sound

Hello all
firstly let me say that i have searched this site for answers
I did come accross a chap who has the same problem as i he coped a bagging from a few people who may have been able to help him but who chose to give him a hard time instead.

My problem is after installing the sims collection & no cd crack
I seem to be missing the sound. my registry gives the sound path to the HD in the correct Dir. I had heard something in the way of copying sound to the HD but it was pretty vague.

Any good advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you all.

As I have not tried the NO-CD cracks for the Sims I can only give you the rough answer.

As you say, the registry key points to your hard drive, so copy all the sounds from the cd into the audio folder on your hard drive probably something like C:\Program Files\Maxis\Sims\Audio) and give that a go. You obviously have to copy the sound to your hard drive as how else is the computer meant to get the sound without the cd.

That's right. Installing the game will not copy the music files to your hard disc. There will be a subdirectory 'Music', but you will notice it will be empty. You just have to copy the 'Music' directory from your cd to your hd, overwriting the existing one.

And I think you will have to change something in the Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Maxis\The Sims]
"SIMS_MUSIC"=".\\"

You have to point to the main dir, NOT to the music dir itself !

the no cd crack should mean there is no need for a reg-edit, shouldnt it? it has for everyone else that asked this question SEVERAL TIMES OVER. thanks for searching.

I have the same problem too. The original game works fine and has sound, and all the expansion packs run fine but with no sound.
I havn't been able to get the sound copying to work, but I haven't tried any reg editing.

Finally got the sound working
when i installed the series i done it all without
a reboot when i looked after i found it never installed all
the sound files to the hard drive .So i went back and manually
copied all the sond files of each sims disk to the sound dir
on the hard drive. Then change the registry to point to that location.
I use a no cd crack to save getting out the CD
cause thats a real pain in the arse the kids trying to find the cd
all the time.
any way hope this helps I know other people have had the same problem
