Question My Playstation 2 dosent read ps1 games

My playstation 2 dosent read any playstation 1 games and for the playstation 2 dvd rom games it takes a long time to load i have to go to the browser menu and wait for the ps2 dvd rom to load. I dont have any blue bottom playstation 2 games so i dont no if those work. I tried cleaning the lens but it still dosent read them. When i put a playstation 1 game i hear a clicking noise and the cd spins and stops. I tried practically brand new ps1 games and it dosent work. Thanx to any1 that can help.

Sorry - I should have read your first post properly. If you have cleaned the lens properly ...

Your post is telling us that neither CDs nor DVDs read well. It is unusual for both laser diodes to fail. You don't mention which model PS2 you have, whether or not you have a modchip.

When the Disk spins and stops, it means that the laser can't focus on its tracking groove. This MIGHT be due to the need for azimuth adjustment (search this forum under that expression for my guide on what to do here). There would need to be a reason why the laser lens is not parallel with the disk.

If adjusting the laser's azimuth doesn't work, it seems likely that a new lazer is required. Has this PS2 been well used in the past?

I agree with charlie,

sounds like you need a new laser unit to me.
