Plextor disc reading problem

Just bought a Plextor 24x cd writer to replace my old HP8100i. Put in a cd I'd written about 300Mb to using the HP drive and the Plextor says it's blank. Every open session cd is blank according to this drive.
So, does it have a problem reading discs that have been partly written by HP drives?
Or does it need updated apsi drivers etc?

Close sessioned cdr's (ie no more writing possible) work without problem.

I'm using WinME, Asus A7V-e m/b, have whatever version of directcd that comes with ezcd creator 5 platinum installed. Latest firmware on drive.

Just written a 787Meg file to an 80min (700Mb) disc in about 4 mins using Fireburner so no problem there.

Problem solved......updated directcd to the latest version and it works!
