DVD burner
I know you guys recomend the A03 and A04 highly, but would any DVD-R burner work? I'm not going to mess with any DVD+r or anything like that, i'm going straight DVD-r.

I would think..It's like saying I don't have to get Sony brand VCR just because everybody gets one, just get a VCR Deck that plays VHS tapes right? Format is a Format..
It's just that A03 and A04 is known for making PS2 DVD back ups..I heard other guys purchased different Drive that Burns DVD-R not DVD-Ram or DVD+R and works fine with making 1:1 copy of PS2 DVD format games..Only problem I could of think is I guess you need to use Nero instead of Prassi program that comes with A03 or A04..Matter of Choice!! |

I've got a a04 with nero and a success rate of 100% every time. A friend bought an lg dvdr drive which burns discs fine but even with my media, the write on the dvdr is so weak that the ps2 can't read it properly.
Anyone who's got an lg drive don't take this as an insult. Just that this is what i've come across. |

Hm..That's interesting! I did not know that! Thanks for the info!
I always thought if it writes DVD-R on any drive it should be OK on the PS2 Lense but apparently that's not the case! I guess you read this,"MegaPyro6"..Get A03 or A04.. I heard Que Brand DVD-R Drive is fine.. While back I heard that On PS2 Ver.1-3 you need to burn DVD-R on 2x because of the older laser..You would think that it should be burned at 1X(Since it's older laser, Strange huh?).. Anyhow it's good that people share their knowledge so that others can learn from it.. |

I an using a Que! DVD-R/RAM and I have made several DVD-R backups that work just fine, and a friend of mine uses a Vivistar DVD-R/RAM and has made a bunch of DVD-R backups that work perfectly too. =)
