capicitor neo 2.2

i heard a lot of this capicitor and that you have to install it at pin 2 of the neo 2.2 chip

so my question now is what does this capicitor exactly do?

it filters and smoothes the signal some.

how do you mean by it smoothes the signal does that mean that it lowers the signal i heard something about that the capicitor lowers the signal from 5v to 3.3v it this true?

hmm.. a bit hard to describe.

imagine a pipe that shoots water every second with a high force against a stone. it will eventually damage the stone.

now imagine that water shooting at high force into a large steel pot (the cap), and then flowing from the pot through a hole onto the stone instead.

it will still eventually wear down the stone, but by far not as fast as if it came with full force.

it does NOT drop the voltage, however. a resistor after the cap (of 150-270 ohm) will lower the voltage and slow down the laser damage even more, tho.

i just read this

1uf Capacitor (prevents any laser adjustment)

what does this mean also heard that games that are over 650 mb will screw up your laser coz the laser is trying too hard to read and will eventually will get broken?

The capacitor will works as a spring.

The electrical signal will first "pull the spring" by filling the capacitor plates with voltage, once the plates are charged, the signal goes ahead to destination without the hard edges.

The "spring" effect smooths the signal and avoids fast movements. This same effect also filters (and eliminates) fast and short pulses, in a way, it protects the "signal receiver" part against those undesired pulses.

Does he have to install this capicitor on pin2 of neo 2.2 chip + a resistor is this possible to have a capicitor and a resistor on one pin??

Search the forum on 'Arakon' and (last November) I think, he explained the Cap/Resistor configuration in some detail. And again last month, I recall.

Tell your friend that NEO2.2 even at $5 is now outdated and will eventually disappoint him.
