Booting from swap disk

I have just had a Neo 2.2 mod chip installed in my PS2 and have been unsuccessful in my first attempts at using the swap disk method using AR2. Would some kind chap please let me know if there is a way of first making sure that the game backup disk that I am using, has first of all, been copied correctly, maybe by using a PS1 perhaps, before concentrating on whether I am following the booting procedure correctly, or is there someone here in Australia who would be kind enough to negotiate exchange of said item to practice on

Probably down to your booting procedure. Read it very carefully. It is easy to miss important words
