PSX Games with the Non-Solder Mod

I'm having a small problem...
I have a non-solder mod and DVD Region X, and it plays PS2 backups fine. However, it will not play PSX Imports (goes to the red screen saying "please insert Playstation or Playstation2 disc" or something like that). Whats worse, when I try a PSX CDR, the PS2 spins the disc really really quick, in an almost painful way, before giving up completely.
Any ideas?

You need to use an AR2 and the 2nd discs that comes with it for PSX

Damn...I was hoping I could avoid splashing out for one of those >.<
