I prefer XP - my friends hate it though and stick with 98SE. It doesn't affect the copying and if you have a good graphics setup then the games wouldn't be affected too much whatever OS you use (although 2000 wasn't built for games)

I like XP's stability.

I use 98SE. Its the most supported. It cant compete with XP when it comes to stability though.

98se is very good, however, the ram not being dumped bothered me....ME is a horribly rushed piece of shit and i highly advise you to play frisbee with its install disc.....2000 is the worst supported by far......XP will run with most things, unless they are specific DOS mode games, and even then it will run most of them. for some reason, my XP cannot run warcraft 2 or NFS 3. of course, it didnt really bother me, just something i noticed

for copying, the only issue is stability, and xp/2000 win hands down there

What does that mean?

I used to be really down on the XP version until I upgraded my father's computer to an AMD XP1700 and none of his games worked on the ME system. I still have no problems running ME on mt xp1800 AMD chip. But I have also seen some great performance from his machine. I still have some issues with XP such as not being able to install it on the same machine more than four (4) times I upgrade so often. But it is far more stable than any version of windows that I have seen thus far (and I've been using PC'S since before windows was even a wet dream for Bill.)

RAM is there so that programs can use it. logically, when a program ends, the ram should be emptied of the program. however, with 98, this wasnt always the case, and thats why 98 se computers have to be restarted much more frequently than other OS's
