Can an expert in IP.BIN files help me Please ?

Hi All,

I KNOW you've probably heard this before and are tired of answering the same old question

I have no probs burning DC games so far, but ONE is beating me. I want to be able to SELFBOOT my copy of Rayman 2 (CCS Rip). I have an IP.BIN and 1st_read.bin, I have followed the Echelon tutorial to the letter, but the DC resets after the SEGA logo when I use the disc. After looking at the IP.BIN in IPBIN4WIN, there are no boxes checked. What I would love to know is, what seetings should it have.... Has anyone else got this game to selfboot?

I suppose it comes down to the fact that I dont understand what IP.bins do and how they work, what 1st_read.bin is etc etc

I was hoping I could find the files on the net but nothing so far

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

J

The IP.BIN is not important, other than it must be there. You can use an IP.BIN from almost **ANY** game when you're creating a new Self-Boot disc, without any problems. What is probably happening is your files are probably being hacked for LBA of 17000 and your drive is only capable of 17002. If the files point to the wrong location, reboots and lockups are a very good possibility.

I'm sorry I can't really help you trouble-shoot your bin files, because I haven't actually burned a Dreamcast disc, much less create a self-boot disc, in about 6-8 months. I haven't even fired up my Dreamcast in about 3-4 months....

Thanks Wayne,

Your reply is appreciated. I'll take a look at the LBA and give it another go - trial and error I reckon

Best Regards

Mark

Yes, you can take any IP.BIN you want, if 1st file read is set to "1st_read.bin".
LBA value should be set to 11702. I've checked my version, and there are some other *.bin files, but you don't need to binhack them. Just binhach 1st_read.bin. I did my selfboot Rayman 2 using Echelon's tutorial, so you should manage to do it also. Just find a correct ip.bin.
