Ping Rate
Yes, I'm new to this.
Started playing online for the first time and don't understand. I connect at 26.6 on my dial up modem. Do I look for higher or lower ping servers to hook up with and how can I check to see my ping rate? Thanks. |

Try to connect to servers that have the lowest ping. To check your ping in MOST games has to be done while u actually online and playing the game.
As u are on dial up, try to connect to servers that are 'local' to u, eg im in the UK and I play on the big UK GSP's (Games Services Providers) like Barrysworld or Blueyonder. As u dont specify which game u are playing, ill go on a hunch, in most first person shooters a'la Medal Of Honor, RtCW, Half Life (and its millions of mods), Quake, to check your ping just press Tab. Hope that Helps. |

Just read a mistake in my previous post. You can also check your ping in most games while u aint connected to a server. In various First person shooter games there is a column for Ping on the Browse Web Servers screen. This ping is an indication of the kind of ping u can expect to achieve that server. Dont know if this rings true for non-first person shooter games.
Just remember. The lower the ping the more u will enjoy your game. |
