Info on DVD back-up

I just purchased a Pioneer A04 DVD-R/RW and a Cendyne DVD-ROM. What programs, hardware and instructions can someone help me with to backup my PS2 games and DVD movies. I dont have a Messiah chip (will by one if needed) Thanks

Why did you by a DVD-Rom when the Pioneer is also a DVD-Rom?

For Playstation 2 DVD games use Prassi Primo DVD.

For Playstation 2 CD-Rom games use Clone CD or CDRWin.

I would recommend you go for the Messiah chip as it runs everything without having to use swap methods. Have it fitted by an expert. Some can be found on this forum.

Hope that helps.

Talking

he bought a DVD because

a) He does'nt want to swap discs during backups
b_ He wants his writer to last as long as he can make it last

take your pick

I bought both that way i could make 1:1 copies directly (PS2 & DVD movies). I am waiting for my Prassi Primo DX CD to come in the mail. i was trying to avoid the hassle of the Messiah chip (where can i find one if i need it?) What is the SWAP method?

I have already created backups with CDRWin (dont know if they will work with chip)

Thanks for any info

Go to PS2 Place for instructions on how to do all of this. Find it at: www.mjpaul.freeserve.co.uk. It will be on the net on Wednesday. (14/8/02). Hope this helps...

On the fly I presume? My advice don't..It's always better to make image first..CD to CD is good but not always..
Also wise decision on seperate DVD rom for reader..

Also dvd movies are copy protected with an encryption program that neither Primo or Nero can copy.
You will need other software such as DVD Decrypter to crack the protection i've used this succesfully however the software mentioned will only work on dvd's 4.36gb in size for technacall reasons.
Anyway were moving away from the ps2 forum theme a bit here and if you want to know more just use a search engine such as GOOGLE under the heading'
HOW TO BACKUP A DVD MOVIE TO DVD-R and you'll find plenty of good sites.
